The Thermals Show

THE THERMALS SHOW WAS GREAT. SEEING THEM WAS LIKE MAKING FUN OUT OF FANTASY. ONE OF THE HIGH POINTS OF THE YEAR, FOR SURE. IT WAS SOMETHING I’LL NEVER FORGET.

WHEN WE GOT THERE, I DIDN’T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT. THE SHOW HAD ALREADY STARTED, AND THE BAND THAT OPENED FOR THE THERMALS WAS ON. I DIDN’T KNOW THEIR MUSIC, BUT I LIKED THEIR SOUND. NO ONE STARED AT ME WHEN I JUMPED AROUND. I LIKED THAT PART.

WHEN THE THERMALS CAME ON, IT WAS LIKE A FLOODLIGHT WAS TURNED ON INSIDE ME. HAVE AN IDEA OF WHAT I MEAN? IT’S LIKE HAVING EVERY CELL IN YOUR BODY TUNED TO THE SAME FREQUENCY, AND THE VOLUME TURNED ALL THE WAY UP. LIKE I WAS ONE WITH THE MUSICAL NOTES THAT WERE STREAMING OUT OF THE SPEAKERS.

A LOT OF MY EXPERIENCE WITH MUSIC IS LIKE THAT. IT’S A FULL BODY EXPERIENCE. THE BASS NOTES HIT MY GROIN AND PULSE THERE. THE DRUMS HIT ME RIGHT IN THE CHEST. THE GUITARS GET ME RIGHT IN THE HANDS. AND THE VOCALS SHOOT DIRECTLY INTO MY BRAIN.

THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE WHEN THE THERMALS PLAYED SONGS FROM THEIR ALBUM ‘THE BODY THE BLOOD THE MACHINE.’ I LISTEN TO THESE SONGS EVERY DAY, AND NEVER TIRE OF THEM. WHEN I HEARD THEM AT THE SHOW, IT WAS A GREAT WELCOMING TO ME. TIME WILL TELL IF THERE WILL BE MORE ALBUMS LIKE TBTBTM, BUT FOR NOW, I WILL KEEP TO THAT ALBUM.
