On the One-year Anniversary of Attending an RPM Workshop

YOU WANT ME TO TALK ABOUT THE LAST YEAR? I’D BE HAPPY TO.

CHANCES ARE, IF WE HADN’T MADE THE TRIP TO SEATTLE LAST YEAR, ALL I WOULD BE DOING IS SITTING ON MY ASS IN SOME SPECIAL ED CLASS AND GOING STIR CRAZY. INSTEAD, I AM IN SCHOOL AND LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF IT.

YOU WANT TO KNOW LEARNING? LEARNING FOR ME IS LIKE A LIGHT THAT BURNS BRIGHT. GOING TO SCHOOL HAS CHANGED MY LIFE. YOU REALLY HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH MORE ACCEPTING PEOPLE ARE OF MY AUTISM NOW THAT THEY HAVE GOTTEN TO KNOW ME. ALL I CAN THINK ABOUT IS HOW THANKFUL I AM FOR RPM.

YOU LIVE CLOSE TO MY HEART WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT ALL THE PEOPLE WHO COULD BE IN SCHOOL BUT ARE NOT BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HAVE SUPPORT FROM THE SCHOOL. I HAVE A BIG PROBLEM WITH THAT. ALL CHILDREN HAVE A RIGHT TO BE INCLUDED IN THEIR AGE GROUP ACADEMICALLY.

TO ALL THE READERS OF MY BLOG, THANK YOU FOR BEING INTERESTED IN MY THOUGHTS. I HOPE TO KEEP CHANGING YOUR PERSPECTIVE ABOUT AUTISTICS AND WHAT WE ARE CAPABLE OF ACHIEVING!
